Too cold to go to the beach?

I'm trying to go to VA beach Saturday. The high is 84 for Saturday. Because it's May, is it too cold to go to the beach?

You can go but I doubt the water will be very warm

If it was 84 in May here, I'd definitely be at the beach. However, this comes from a pale, northerner who lives only 2.5hrs from Canada. We have Lake Superior here which is always ice cold year round and rarely does it hit 84 degrees here.

We were at the beach this time last year. It was too cold to get in the water, but we had a blast anyways.
