pregnant?

I was a few days late and when I started I was hit with painful cramps lasting three days with clots and now it's light with no pain and no clots. I have also been experiencing high basal body temperature and nausea... I may be completely off base but it's just a weird feeling. None of my periods have been like this before. Can people have periods the first time after conceiving? What does a miscarriage look like?
