help, my baby hates sleep
I need some advice and sleep! My daughter is now 8 weeks old. I had a csection, and she stayed in the nicu for three days to get her oxygen saturation up to par. My problem is from the very beginning once I stopped taking pain medication she has slept way under the average amount. She usually sleeps 9.5-12 hours every 24 hours. Usually one blissful day a week she will sleep 14. I have brought this up to her pediatrician mutiple times, and she doesn't think there is an issue. I have read so much information on how parents get their babies to sleep but when I try to implement these things for my baby girl I end up not even having time to shower or eat. I am convinced this little anount of sleep is hurting her because that one day a week that she sleeps well is like living with a different calm and fun little girl. I feel as though I have tried it all, but I can't wear her or let her stay on my belly all day. Now, even when she does sleep it doesn't seem restful. She makes noises and squirms. I have tried gripe water, chamomile, gas drops, and probiotics. I have tried a dark room, a swing, and a vibrating chair. She isn't hot or cold and I make sure she is fed and dry. She is breastfed and eats plenty. Her weight is in the 77%. Any suggestions? This has turned into a bit of a rant. Is this just normal for babies to fight sleep like this? I always thought if they were sleepy that they would eventually sleep.
