Medicaid?

So I've been reading up on getting Medicaid for my baby after he's born just until I can finish school next year. Everything I've been reading has said that I'll have to go after his father for child support before I can get any kind of government assistance. I REALLY don't want to have to do this because he's an asshole who I don't want to deal with anymore and I'm afraid if his parents find out they'd try to take my baby away. Does anyone have any information regarding government assistance and child support?

My kids have Medicaid and I never had to put there father on support

They require you to do so because they don't want children to become the states reponsibility.

If the father is capable to support the child then he should be required too.

I have it and they haven't gone for my babies father? We aren't married

Actually... If you do not cooperate they will take YOUR benefits away, not the child's. And you could always claim you don't know the father.

I have Medicade now and soon as the baby is born he will automatically get it without having to get hold support from the father. The dad and I are together just not married.

First thing I would reccomend is looking up what they will actually take your baby over. This isn't something they can or will take baby over. 
The state does not want to be responsible for taking care of the kid, trust me I have seen children be really horribly abused and they never get taken.

If your only applying for insurance they will not need to put ur childs father on child support

Not for medicaid but for money assistance like TANF yes they will go for child support.

I think that it's something new that they are now searching out the fathers to help support there children. Which they should anyway, without having to be chased down, but anyway they recently started it in NC where I live where you have to put the father on child support or show that he's already helping to support the chikd(ren).

Unless you want to put him on child support you don't have to go after him now if your getting welfare and getting cash assistance then yes they will want him to pay that money back. As far as health coverage I sign up for it my self because I can't get my son in my parents insurance so i plan on adding him on that insurance after he born. And his parents can not take away your child unless try are dicks and try to fight to full custody and claim your an unfit mom. I would suggest getting custody of your child if the father wants nothin to do with the baby so if you need to apply for financial assistance then he will have to pay some type of child support
