Should I feel bad?

Background story first. A friend/coworker of mine quit the job where we worked last summer to go work for a school. When we worked at the other place, she and I, plus two other girls were in leadership positions. Not only that, we were also really close to each other. I ended up leaving to work at the same school as my friend in December. And after we both left our little alliance between the four of us kind of fell apart.

Bringing it back to today. The treatment manager, who was one of the members of our group asked me to come back for the summer. I said yes because I needed the extra money. She didn't ask the other girl to come back. I kind of feel bad that I was asked and she wasn't, mainly because I know it will feel like a slap in the face to her. But should I feel bad? Because I do, and I want to tell her before she hears it from someone else. What do I do??

Not everyone will have the same opportunities. You do not have to feel bad because others didn't get the same opportunity you did. Just be humble about it

So I told her about it, and she seemed fine. She ended up texting our friend to see if she would bring her back too, and our friend told her no.😕 So I don't know what feelings will rise from that.

I would just say that you needed the extra money and they offered the position so you took it. No reason to feel bad for something you can't control.

I wouldn't feel bad. It's a job not a party. You can't cling to friends at every job. Honestly it'd be good to stand on your feet as an independent unit. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I would tell her if she brings it up, but I would be sensitive about telling her in a way that is kind and only fact based.

You can still tell her but you shouldn't feel bad because it's an opportunity for you to make extra money and any real friend would be happy for you regardless.
