Infected or healing?

So I got my belly button pierced a month ago now and I'm starting to worry that it's gotten infected. The only signs of infection it has is the little bit of redness around the top ball and when I move it up when cleaning a little bit of pus comes out and I can't tell if it's normal pus or not. No swelling, blood or hot to the touch. Any advice would be appreciated. Hopefully it's just me overreacting 😅.

It might just be irritated. 
It might be the beginning of an infection. 
It also might be the beginning of migration/rejection.

Make sure you continue cleaning it the way that your piercer instructed. If it's just irritation then it should go away fairly soon. If it's getting infected then it will either get hot and a little painful (but hopefully by continuing to clean it, you can stop it before it gets worse). Annnnd if it is rejecting then there is absolutely nothing you can do. It will keep getting worse - you will be able to see more and more of the jewelry as your body tries to push it out (if this ends up being the case then just make sure you remove the jewelry before it fully rejects. If you don't then you may have too much scar tissue to try and pierce it again in the future).

navel piercings take 6 months to a year to heal. just keep cleaning it with soap or a saline solution, avoid alcohols, oils and salts. if you ever have questions feel free to hit up your piercer for sure! you also don't have to move it around too much while cleaninh
