Is it rude?

Is it rude to put "no clothes please" on a baby shower invite? I know people enjoy buying clothes (including me 🤷🏻‍♀️) but we really need the things on our registry and have so many clothes! Any suggestions?

My SIL put a cute little rhyme about only bringing baby soap, diapers, wipes or children's books as gifts on my Facebook e-vites. I don't think it's rude at all. Better than getting a bunch of clothes your baby will never wear.

I wish I had requested no clothes on the invitation. We didn't put any on our registry but we received 90% clothes at our shower. I am incredibly thankful for all of the gifts but our baby can only wear so many and we didn't get any gift receipts to return them.

I think that is perfectly reasonable. If you said you have to many clothes I don't see why it would be rude.

I wouldn't say it like that I would say something like "Please refer to our registry for gifts"

I didn't need anything by time I had my shower so I kindly told everyone to please only get diapers and simple things like that because I didn't want anyone's money wasted on what baby didn't need.

I put on mine, "If you are able to help out, please only choose from the registry as we have quite a bit of baby stuff already! :)"

I don't think so at all, I asked for no clothes, and requested books for the baby instead.

I would just not put any clothes on the registry as a hint,  I personally wouldn't be comfortable putting that on an invitation.

Don't be afraid to put that on your invitation. My husband and I don't even want a baby shower because we'd rather choose our own purchases but for the sake of it being my moms first grandchild, she will die if we don't have a baby shower. So husband and I agreed that we are going to ask guests for no gifts and instead donate money to charity. The invitations will state that and for those we've already told, they haven't said anything about it being rude. Only you get to choose what's best for you.
