too hot for infant ?!

So we don't have an AC & are staying temporarily at a family's home and they don't want an ac in the house.. I'm worried that when the baby comes home it'll be to hot for him. We're on the second floor and it's an old house.. it's uncomfortably hot for myself. Are infants okay with 80-90 degree weather ? I guess back in the day they were okay so maybe I shouldn't over think it ?

If you have a window get a portable AC unit . They work amazing . People sell them all the time on Craigslist .

It will be fine.  We brought our infant to Mexico (over a year ago now) and talked to the doctor before going.  He said to make sure she was well hydrated (so regular feedings since infants can't have water) light clothing.  We would give her a bath in luke warm water and that helped her be more comfortable too.

We had AC when we needed it so I don't have additional advice for when the baby is sleeping (other than above) but ask your pediatrician's office since being too warm is one of the things they warn against for SIDS.  I'm a worry wart, not trying to scare just the same things I thought about when hotter weather arrived.

I think when you have your initial doctors appts (they'll be quite a few in the beginning) asking them for suggestions will help put your mind at ease.

My room is pretty hot and totally uncomfortable for me. But having a fan across the room helps a ton. I also saw this thing on pinterest where you can attach upside down water/pop bottles to a fan, poke holes in the sides (not too far down) and put ice inside. As the ice melts itll cool down the room, no a/c needed 😊

Where I live, it was recently 100f for the last few months 😩 (Indian summers are from March-June)

Luckily, it's going down to about 90f now, but I still worry about the baby, as we are from a very cold northern climate, and our bodies just aren't used to the heat.

What we're doing is, dressing them in very light cotton clothing (1 layer), and if that's too hot for them, letting them sleep with just a diaper on (they'll be under a mosquito net; the crib comes with one). We also got very thin cotton 'grow-bags' for them to sleep in, which can be zipped or unzipped. There's also a fan over where the crib will be.

I'm still worried, and it's going to take some experimenting to see what works. It's just going to have to be trial and error :(

They can't regulate their temperature when they are very young so just check their head often to make sure they are not too hot. You can always use a wash cloth to keep them cool when needed and make sure they drink enough breast milk or formula.

Could you buy a small fan for your area? I know wal mart and home depot have them this time of year for pretty cheap. I have also heard that the movement of air around baby's room reduces the risk of sids.

As long as little babe is in light enough clothing and you keep an eye on his skin so he doesn't get heat rash it should be okay.. my apartment is really warm and dry too 🙄 we have to buy a little mist machine for his room so it stays damp enough
