so excited!

Tomorrow is my first ultrasound, I am 11 weeks and three days right now! We have just moved to Boston from Colorado, and found out very quickly that I was pregnant so I randomly had met someone whose daughter was a gynecologist, I went to them first just to confirm the pregnancy... but I really did not feel comfortable with that doctor. I don't want to say that I didn't like her, she just wasn't someone I could see myself doing this whole pregnancy with, etc. so tomorrow I am going in to do my initial appointment, they are going to just do a surface ultrasound to determine exactly how far along I am by size I guess, and discuss with me the genetic testing and other testing's that we can do. I am curious as to what these test exactly include. I know there is a test for Down syndrome. I will be going back in about another week for a full ultrasound, which I am guessing means through my vagina and on the outside of my belly, and that is where they can look for the down syndrome marker? I am not sure if I will be doing that test, but I was curious what other genetic testing she was talking about. Can somebody please tell me exactly what their initial appointments included? I know tomorrow she will be going over the dues and don'ts of the pregnancy, doing a quick ultrasound, and I am guessing bloodwork? Well, if anyone has any insight that would be great. This is my first child and I am reading as much as I can, especially through this app, I would love to hear other women's experiences with their 10 to 14 week appointments.  Thanks!
