When to introduce finger foods

What age did u introduce finger foods and what are some good options to introduce first? My lo will be 8 months on the 30th of this month and we are still just doing stage 2 baby foods, yogurts, oatmeal... Also, am I the only one terrified of them choking?? Maybe its because I'm a ftm but I am so worried about her choking when i introduce finger foods!

I would try puffs. They melt away and week give you a good gauge of whether your child is ready to chew (or gum it). Also maybe soft banana?

6 months. I pretty much offer what I eat, just cut into smaller pieces.

Things like apples, bananas and peaches, I peel, then give the a large piece, like 1/4 of the apple. Things like meat, I cut into pieces about 1/8th inch. Spagetti noodles get a rough cut no longer than 2 inches. I cut grapes in half. Watermelon and avacados gets 1/2 inch cubes.

I still give pureed baby food because about 80% of what she feeds herself ends up in her lap. And she really has no interest in the Gerber baby snacks.
