Baby Shower

So in the beginning of my pregnancy, my best friend mentioned she wanted to throw me a baby shower. I'm 28 weeks now, and she hasn't mentioned a thing about it. So my question is, what do I do? I want to have a baby shower, but I've heard its taboo to throw my own. Advice?
