announcing our pregnancy
So after 16 months of TTC, we finally got our BFP!! (Yay) I found out at 4 weeks 1 day and we told our parents today (4w6d). I made what looks like a flower seed packet and typed up the cover and back and filled it with poppy seeds...such a cute announcement, I think.
We are planning to announce the pregnancy to the rest of our friends and family on Sunday (5w3d) at our sons 3rd bday party by giving him a "big brother" shirt and had for his last gift.

I know typically you are supposed to wait until you're through the first trimester but this is my husbands first biological child and we just want to celebrate this baby and have everyone share in the excitement. I also have a friend who waited to tell friends and family and suffered a miscarriage and nobody knew why she was grieving. And I also have a friend who delivered a stillborn child at 40 weeks with no complications throughout the entire pregnancy.
I guess my point is, that although the risk of miscarriage is much greater in the first trimester something could always happen. And God forbid something happen and you're stuck to grieve alone.
I have not had the pain of suffering from a miscarriage but I know a lot of women who have and I just feel that I want to celebrate this baby and love him (or her) and allow my family to love him even if something did happen. This child is still my child and will forever be my child.
