Do you think this fair?

At the high school I graduated from, they offer every child a parking spot from sophomore year to senior year. The parking lots are separated by grade.

When it comes time to assign spots every year, they give away spots based on GPA, not first come first serve. So those with the highest GPAs get the best parking spots by default.

Do you think this is fair or should they be given away first come first serve?
