Belly binding is a traditional postpartum practice in many cultures. Belly binding and the postpartum girdle your care provider could supply are gentle and beneficial. Waist training is more intense and a time commitment. I believe it's meant to actually change the shape of your body. I suggest researching traditional belly binding and belly wrapping to my clients. I'm unfamiliar with waist training and I don't feel comfortable saying it's a good thing to do during the immediate postpartum period.

I heard you aren't supposed to because it could keep your organs from going back to their original place (I don't know 😭😂😂) but I used a waist trainer once I got close to my original weight and only had the little muffin top left. I didn't use it religiously but I did wear that and yoga pants over my belly.

I had c sections but your doctor regardless of your birth method should be able to give you a belly binder before you leave the hospital and it was a life saver for me!!

My doctor adviced me against it because it makes it harder for your body to go back down since not having to do any of the work while you use the girdle.
