Teaching while sick 🤢

Sam • 26 and living my dream life 💜

Anyone else a teacher with terrible morning sickness? I teach Kindergarten and we are coming up to the end of the school year. I've been having to run and get another teacher to watch my class because I've been vomiting throughout the day. These last 3 weeks of school may kill me 😵!

Any work-related advice for morning sickness?

Ginger ale, sour candies, pickles/ vinegar lol. My dr prescribed zolfran and that helped immensely. Luckily, I would get sick in the morning before the students arrived and then in the afternoon after they left. Sometimes they smelled so bad (teenagers), I would have to step away to avoid vomiting!

I've been adding lemon juice to my water and it seems like the sour helps. I will need to try some sour candies!! Thanks!

I can't water in my hand constantly, peppermints, and crackers. It sucked but we made it through lol

AND the kids eat lunch in the classroom-- hardest part of my day right now. EVERYTHING makes me gag.

Teachers are heroes! I was in the classroom when I was pregnant w my first and it was terrible. Now with my second I am working w teachers in a support role. I thought it would be so much easier but it's been worse! My students were 100% clueless while I threw up mid lesson.  Adults ask questions and always want to know why I'm still sick 2 months after "getting the flu" ugh!

I have to stop myself every time someone asks how I'm doing. I want to say I'm feeling terrible and exhausted, but I lie with a "doing fine" 😂

Call you doctor! I was able to get a prescription for my morning sickness before my doctor even saw  me. Peppermint or sour candy during the day helped a bit to. Congrats momma! Just a couple more weeks- you can do it!

I. Can't. Wait. For. Summer. Break!!!!! I am 9 weeks and MS has been in full swing since 6 weeks. I've tried switching and trying different  prenatals and adding B6. Things that helped: ritz crackers, salt vinegar chips, mints, ginger (for awhile then THAT started making me sick!), and a tiny little bit of coke. Burping feels amazing, so I fit right in with my middle schoolers. And yes someone mentioned the smells of the classroom....my window is always open and I have lemony scents throughout my classroom. Also I too have become very sluggish (rolly chair all the way) and even my kids are starting to notice something is off! 10 more days to go 🎉🎉🎉

I feel your pain. My husband starts talking about food, and I just tell him he has to stop, lovingly of course. I say, eat what you can because you need to get some nutrients, even if that means running to your local grocery maybe 5x! We will get through this, our husbands too! Haha

I'm driving myself (and probably my husband if he would ever admit it) crazy with food aversions. Each meal I crave some weird thing that I probably don't have on hand while the thought of everything else makes me sick. After I eat that meal, the food I just ate sounds terrible to me. What is that about?? I can't drive to the store 3x a day!! 😥

Kindergarten teacher here too! 🙋🏼 Working these past two months has been MISERABLE! You're on your feet all day and never have time to sit down or rest! The sickness and exhaustion are what get me.  I told my principal and my coworkers because I had a small complication so having their support helps. But other than that, I'm just trying to make it through these next few weeks!

Peppermint candies, and hot tamale candies. I nibble on hot tamale candies throughout the day and it seems to help

I am so grateful that summer break started last Friday. I am going to spend my first trimester in BED! I'm so sorry you're having to work like that. I would seriously have to use my disability the first 12 weeks. Lol! Hope you're better soon.

Wishing ours was out already! I have spent the entire weekend in bed and I am dreading tomorrow! Wish me luck!!!

I'm a teacher as well and I got to the point where I took the trash can everywhere with me... I also had a rolly chair I would use so I wouldn't be up walking because it made my stomach churn... Chewing gum helped some!

I'm an RN working 10 hour shifts and man!!! Being on your feet that long and seeing other people vomiting near makes it impossible 😷!!! Barf
