Baby shower thrown by my dad's ex wife... Weird or not??

My dad and I have no relationship. My mom passed when I was 6. I don't want to have my dad show up and ruin my shower but I believe I would feel cheated if I didn't have a shower with my dad's side of the family whom I still have a relationship with. My dad was married to his 4th wife for 4 years and she and I talk all the time even after their divorce. She is so supportive of my pregnancy and she offered to do a shower for me and host my dad's side of the family. I would love to have her throw me one because I love her and because if it's at her house I'm pretty sure that my dad will not come and ruin everything. Is this setup weird???? I don't want to alienate any more family members by having it thrown by my dad's ex wife.
