How to do a baby shower when everyone is far away

Candy
Last year my husband and I moved from New England to Florida for a job. We love it here, but now that we are expecting, have no idea how to handle a long distance baby shower. This is our first child as well as the first grandchild for either side of our families so everyone wants to celebrate the baby. However if we had a party while I'm still expecting there may only be 2-3 people who could come since our families are all so far away. Some of our family friends and aunts and uncles come to Florida after the holidays and stay for a few months (the snowbird thing) so I was thinking instead of a baby shower we can do a "meet the baby party" in January shortly after I've given birth (im due Jan 5) but not sure if that would be super tacky. Anyone else have this issue? I feel like if I do it before I'll be sad since no one will be in town to actually make a party and it will just feel like a gift grab. But I know doing it after is unconventional as well. Would love any and all suggestions!!!
