Are you feeding your 8-9 month LO if he or she wakes in the middle of night?

She just woke up crying because her diaper needed changing. Of course, as soon as I put on a clean one, she peed again. Anyway after a whole crying fit, I managed to settle her down. I normally would've fed her, but I didn't and she went right back to sleep. She hasn't eaten in five hours, so I am a little surprised she didn't want to drink. Would you have fed your LO ?

My 9 month old typically wakes and wants to nurse, but sometimes, if it has only been an hour or so since he nursed, my husband will soothe him and let him sleep with him for a while until he is ready to nurse. If you can tell the baby is hungry, I say nurse. Just my opinion. But if baby can be soothed and go back to sleep without nursing, I would take that as an indicator that he/she isn't hungry.

It depends. Sometimes. I try to wait it out and see if she will put herself back to sleep.

He really depends. Last night my son was very unsettled and had 2 feeds during the night. Maybe a growth spurt. He can go 10 nights in a row then decides wants fed again.

We cut out night feedings and added more during the day. We had to do something bc he was waking every hour out of habit. It was getting worse and worse. So one day I fed him four bottles and breastfed him 4 times and he slept 12 hours that night. It was successful for us! It makes life so much easier knowing he doesn't need it and he can go all night just fine. Sometimes he needs a cuddle or two and that's all and he will go right back to sleep.
