Any expecting mamas who work from home/do freelance work?

Question

If so, I'd love to chat! I transitioned into working from home at the end of last year because we were planning on starting a family and I knew I wanted to be home, but we can't survive on one salary. Now I do freelance web design and social media for local businesses. I have really great clients, steady work, and flexible hours. But there are a few things I am nervous about like how long I'll be able to take maternity leave, will I still be able to work full time, will my baby be used to my voice since I'm home alone and don't talk out loud much. lol. 😂

Anyway if you are in a similar situation I'd love to know:
1) What do you do for work?
2) Is this your first pregnancy or do you have other children at home?
3) Will you continue to work full time once the baby comes or will you reduce your hours?
4) How long will you take for maternity leave, and how will you be able to afford the time off?
5) Do you talk out loud/to your baby when no one else is around during the day?

I forgot to add... How nice is it to be working from home dealing with morning sickness!!! Mine is so bad and I can't imagine having to deal with it being in an office!

I was a full time bartender and I now work part time for a cigar company from home. I was still bartending twice a week for extra money. I just started my leave at the restaurant and I am hoping I only need a week or so off from my home job (I can't take too long because we need money). I speak with customers over the phone so my baby will hear me speaking, but I plan on talking to him when we're alone. I have two dogs and I talk to them all the time lol. I feel like working from home is such a great opportunity that we are so fortunate to have! I won't have to scramble looking for child care and worry leaving my baby until I'm ready to go back to my other job a couple days a week. I also try and run some errands or go on a walk with my mom or friends after work so I don't feel too lonely.

I work from home too (it has kind of been a hard transition, as I find it isolating and miss the interaction!).  Anyhow, I am glad to be able to work remotely because it affords great flexibility and will allow me to keep working without paying for too much daycare.  I teach (Spanish) online.  I am going to try to keep my current hours once the baby comes.  I get 6 weeks, but I want to see if there is any way to stretch it to 12.  My husband also works from home and he does a lot more talking than me, as he often has client meetings.  But I plan on talking to the baby a lot.  I will have to schedule child care or make sure my husband can watch the baby when I teach live lessons, 5 to 8 hours per week.  Other than that, I can do the rest of my work when I can fit it in.  There will be a lot to learn about our new schedule, I'm sure! I just wonder if I will go back to the classroom once our little one does too, or if I will continue to work online.  I guess that is years down the road anyhow!  Best of luck!

I currently work from home.

I work as a medical corder for a major hospital.

My first baby!!!

I'm full time and only get 6 weeks maternity leave, I could take more if I had my shirt term disability but I neglected to sign up for it (dumb on my behalf), I have to use my paid time off to make it thru.

I talk to my baby often so I doubt I'll have a concern with him knowing my voice.

My real concern is sometimes we do have to go into the office,  I've heard of part time daycare centers so it'll have to be something I look into.....

I'm a freelance digital designer and video editor/animator. My clients know that I am pregnant. I've been very upfront with them about timelines and my availability. I plan on sending out an email before baby comes to let them know I'll be taking maternity leave. Everyone has been really understanding. I'm a FTM so it's hard to know what I'll be able to do once baby is here so I think it's important to give me some time for just me and baby.

I got certified for family child care after my daughter was born. Not sure what I will do for maternity leave the second time around. Most other childcare providers work as long as possible then take 2 weeks off right after the birth.
