Removing Nipple/Belly Piercings?

I'm 17 weeks and still have nipple and belly piercings in. They never completely healed for me despite having them for a long time so because of that I'm stressing about removing them. Will my body focus so much on healing them the baby would be neglected? And what if I get an infection? Mamas who have removed these before please let me know when you did and what aftercare!

You don't have to take out your nipple piercings during pregnancy, id suggest belly piercings though cause theyll stretch unless you get the pregnancy rings. I kept my belly rings in until 5 months and my nipple ines in up until the day i went in to be induced. And im currently breastfeeding exclusively and my holes still havent closed i put them in here and there to make sure they haven't. 😌

With my first I had my belly pierced, I never took out the ring, just switched at about 25-30 weeks (don't remember exact, this was 2 years ago lol) to a bendy acrylic ring. My midwife never said that I would have to take it out, she just said some women like to at a certain point. This time around I have both the belly piercing and both nipples, and I don't intend on taking any of them out, just switching to the acrylic belly ring around 25-30 weeks again. You should be fine either way, the only reason I know of that some women take out their belly rings is because with a stretching and growing belly, it can be uncomfortable to have the curved metal bar.

I took my belly button ring out around 15 weeks at my doctors request. She warned me of nasty infections that she's had to deal with from the ring rubbing, although I think she was being a bit paranoid because I'm sure that usually doesn't happen. I was honestly relieved to take it out because being pregnant is generally uncomfortable and it's been so nice not having to worry about it catching on my clothing anymore! I check it every once in a while and there's still a hole (currently 24 weeks along). I've heard of some soft belly button rings meant for pregnancy that you could look into if you're worried about it closing.
