Handmaiden's Tale: Do you notice any similarities to what women face today, in regards to infertility and societal views?

Mr
I recently read the book, "The Handmaiden's Tale" by Margaret Atwood and thought about us all (women ttc). I write this just because I noticed the similarities of women who are ttc in 2017 with the book writen in 1986 (roughly 30 years ago). The book being forthtelling on the challenges women face today with issues of infertility, women's inequality, and role in the household. I've read everything on this site that women have used desperately to become pregnant, from injections to pills to oils to sex positions. I wonder if we as women, are risking our lives and freedom to ttc. Does anyone notice any societal pressures that may contribute to the perception of our worth/value in this world if we do not conceive? Are we less valuable? Just thinking on this book, and how it's strikingly similar to what we face today. Any thoughts?
