mental ward?

Has anyone been to a mental ward? I'm thinking king of admitting myself and I want to know what I'm in for and what's going to happen. 
I'm going for depression.

They will take away belongings and clothing with strings and metal. They will ask a ton of questions to diagnose you and go about ways to treat you

The one my mom went to they did activities and group to help people with getting better.

I'd recommend you find a good therapist or a councilor. It's all about finding someone you're comfortable with so it's okay if the first person isn't the right one. Idk how far your depression is or how bad it is but I wouldn't want to be put in a situation where you basically are being told what to do and when to do it. No comfort and no privacy. From what I know the mental hospital in my area keeps you for at least 3 days for like "observation" where they keep you from anything that you may harm yourself with... completely understandable for suicidal patients. However I would be not very at ease with no shoelaces and being limited... hoping for the best for you!!! Good thoughts and prayers being sent your way.
