Is anyone else sad about not having anyone throw them a baby shower?  When we first announced, my mom was so excited and said she wanted to throw a shower in PA.  (I live in CO and do not have any friends or family nearby).  Well, the other day I mentioned that I feel uncomfortable inviting distant relatives with whom I don't have any contact.  I don't want to invite people to a gift event when I don't even speak to them (note - my mother does not have a relationship with them either). She responded that she doesn't really want to do it anymore.  I'm crushed!  We have been waiting for this baby for years and am so sad that nobody deems us special enough to hold a celebration.  I was really looking forward to it.  *I did express this to her and she was just kind of meh.  She said she would do it if I really wanted but would rather not.
