ZIKA VIRUS!?

I haven't heard much of it and was not so worried about it either, since I was not planning to be pregnant.  Well, it just so happens we're are currently 5 weeks and I couldn't be any more excited!

Has anyone traveled out of the country recently and pregnant? 
What does your OB say about Zika?

I just found out and will be scheduling my appointment, but would like your input. TIA!

My best friend is an epidemiologist working on Zika. It's still very much a problem, and it can have severe consequences on your baby. Keep in mind that it's not just you who is a risk but also you SO, because it can be sexually transmitted to you for around 6 months after he would be bit. He also may not ever know that he's infected.

I had a cruise planned when we found out we were pregnant, and I cancelled it. A vacation isn't worth my child's health, and I would have never forgiven myself if something happened.

Definitely talk to your doctor. Read up on the CDCs recommendations and travel warnings as well.

It's still a risk but one best to talk to your doctor or about and get more information. I have a friend who went to Mexico over Christmas and came back with Zika.

Went to Mexico at 20 weeks for 1 week with my husband. Totally fine. Zika IS a risk in affected areas, but there's disease everywhere. Just TRULY educate yourself. My doc gave me tons of LEGIT (not scared, internet mom advice) information and told us to have a great trip. ✌

Haven't traveled recently, but I had a wedding to go to a couple weeks ago but my OB said not to because of Zika. She advises to look at travel warnings and wear protective clothing.

I did travel fairly recent. But the wait time for males and females are different. If I remember correctly, females are 4-6 weeks. Males are 8 weeks. So waiting those times IF and only if you've traveled to an area that is exposed to Zika.
