Why did you marry him?

Question

Please let me know what hurdles, obstacles, and issues you have in your relationships that you have either overcome or overlooked in order to marry your husband.

(The reason I'm asking is because I'm not sure if I'm being prudent by not rushing into marriage with my boyfriend because of one issue in our relationship, or if I'm just being a baby about it and need to realize that you'll never be 100% ready to get married but need to do it at some point anyway because you love them and want a future with them.)

I don't feel that I had to overlook anything about my husband when I married him. As a couple, I've always felt we were a good match and as a result we've never been ones to fight or have big issues in our marriage. If you feel like you're having to overlook a lot of things, or shrugging off big issues and things that bother you, you may not be in the right relationship. I wouldn't marry someone who made you feel like you're having to compromise a lot about yourself. Those things don't usually go away, they just lead to fights and resentment

My husband was my high school sweet heart, and we really truly had to fight to be together. He is a first generation immigrant from Russia, and his family speaks very broken english. Beyond that, they are strongly religious whereas I was raised athiest. I have since found faith, but it was very tough for a long time. Neither of our families wanted us together. I am 24 now and we have been together nearly 10 years, married 3. I believe you'll know its right when its right, but marriage should never be rushed either.

I married him because he was my bestfriend. I never got annoyed with him or bored. It's like once I met him? Every other guy vanished. Like yeah they were there but all I could focus on was him. We got married quickly, we knew we were meant to be. He overcame a porn addiction and doing drugs and being not only a disgusting mess but also a computer addict. It's the fact that I know he try's his hardest to be the best he can and I am so in love with him for it. There aren't many good men out there so I'm so blessed to have him.

Every relationship has up and downs. For me I don't feel like there was any thing I neeeded to over come to get married. Sure marriage is work but it should not be some thing that is hard. If you have a feeling that you have to over come something depending on what it is you may not be in the right relationship. If you think they have to change to be together than move on. Because people don't change and should not have too just so the relationship works.

I would say it depends on what the hurdle is that you are experiencing. If it is something that you know you will get over and it won't cause you any issues in the future then that's fantastic. If it's a pretty major hurdle, and will keep coming up in the future marriage and causing issues, would you want to live like that? Unfortunately only you will know how you will view the hurdle a few years down the road but try to let that quide you. I wish you every happiness.

My husband and I have had plenty of ups and downs,  we were together for 4years before getting engaged, in those four years we broke up a couple of times due to his ex always just being around. She caused drama multiple times on purpose mind you. 
Also his mum has never liked me, I couldn't tell you why.

Along with all the other dramas of being in a relationship Money,  morals,  beliefs etc etc a relationship is never easy but we love each other and always work through the tough stuff.
