Plan To Get Married, Where To Start First?

Question

I'm 21 and planning to married in the next 2 years. Now I and my bf are preparing to finish our thesis then graduate this year and soon start to work to collect all the money needed. However we don't know how much money we'll need and where or when to start to prepare for it. Can you guys give me some advice? Thanks!

Figure out the type of wedding you want, then figure out the type of wedding you can afford. Don't start your marriage in debt! Research venues as they book pretty far in advance.

Wait--- are you guys even officially engaged?

Really. I wouldn't get ahead of yourselves. You're young. I'm not much older, but really took my husband longer then I thought to get engaged with me. And then we planned our dream wedding in 4 months. Or rather I did---alone because he was working constantly abroad... Also we had our wedding in a country with different language then what I speak in fact.
Our wedding was literally one of the best weddings I ever went to and not just saying that... heard same from my guests.

FOUR months! 
Focus on your school and living together first (if you don't already) or finding somewhere with an engagement and wait till he really proposes. What if something happens and he doesn't? Then it's rather silly going through all the effort making up some fantasy life you would have with someone else and will give you headaches.

😂😂stress about the upgrade to fiancé! Just my advice and it's not meant mean. Just don't get your hopes up guys say anything for you to lay off while doing nothing. Had to say I was leaving my now-hubby so I could find another job back home before he got on one knee.

Date, budget and #of people are the best places to start. Then what kind of feel you want. Then I would decide venue and dress. (That's what I did and am is the process of helping my sister with).
 The knot has a thing you can fill out and I'm sure there are tons of apps out there now 😊.

A lot depends on where you live and how many people you wish to be there. We did family and close friends only and had a budget of 8,000. We had a lovely wedding and I wouldn't change much of anything about it. Yes it was more on the simple side and we did somethings ourselves but we could justify spendjng tens of thousands of dollars on a one day event. That and we really wanted to take a nicer honeymoon, have money to spend there and save for a down payment on a house.

Google wedding budgeting, there are a bunch of tools that will help. Although they will probably include cost that you don't actually need, like save the dates etc. The not.com is also good place to look. They have calendars as well that help you know how long advance it's ideal to do things. Your first step and Also the most expensive thing will be the venue, so figuring that out will help you narrow everything else down! Good luck!

In California you'll need about $30,000 for less than 100 people for a "regular" wedding. Could be a little less.
