You can be in a committed relationship for years and still get one since they can stay dormant for a long time.
I've only slept with one person and I ended up with chlamydia, we were both shocked. 
However now if you sleep with 10 new people a week and do nothing to protect yourself, then I'm judging you

It only takes one sexual act to catch something and that I understand, I don't judge. If you're having a lot of casual sex without protection and end up catching an STI..it's like well what were you expecting? I will lowkey judge in that scenario.

I only think less of someone with an sti if they knowingly spread it around without treating themselves...... then you are an asshole.

My husband had hpv when we met and didn't know it until I had an irregular Pap smear and had to have surgery to remove precancerous cells from my cervix. Hpv can cause cervical cancer in most cases. Neither of us have any symptoms or anything, and hpv really doesn't have symptoms much. You would never know, and honestly I often forget about it. The only time it's an issue is during pregnancy. Pregnancy stimulates your cervix so any time I get pregnant I have to have a biopsy of my cervix and be monitored closely for precancerous/ cancer. Being pregnant can bring me out of remission. My pregnancy with my daughter caused me to come out of remission, but when I got a second biopsy I was fine. Hpv can't be passed to the baby either. Do I wish I didn't have it? Yes. Do I blame my husband? No. Honestly I would have gotten it even if we would have known because he is my husband and we wanted children. I will have my cervix removed once we are done having children, and then it won't affect me at all.
