Medicating our Children (2.0) Should A 13 year old be put on (prescribed) antianxiety or antidepressants?

Alright well this is embarassing ! I'm reposting it because I definitely wasn't clear enough in the first try. You wonderful ladies smacked me in the face about how much more common it is than I thought for mental illnesses to present themselves well before someone is finished puberty. It didn't sound like it, but I really do take my 13 year old family member seriously about the depressed thoughts she seems to be having. That's not my question at all. Like many of you have said, I'd rather a medicated sister than a dead one.

The question I really have is about the treatment.

How comfortable are you with putting a 13 year old on antianxiety pills or antidepressants, which are taken daily, after only minimal therapy and assessment (maybe 6 school counsellor visits and one assessment at the Children's Hospital (a psychiatrist there)?
