Yes they do help. This is my first month TTC and right after I got off my period I started using them. I bought store generic brand from Walgreens and from dollar tree. 
I test with both brands. I have found that the store generic strips are more accurate then the dollar tree. 
The generic Walgreens opks are $20 for a whole month supply.
