Sickle Cell??

Got a letter in the mail saying "Your baby has an abnormal hemoglobin type? Can anyone explain what that can be? Is it related to sickle cells? Thanks .  Baby is 3 weeks

Abnormal hemoglobin could be caused by a couple different things. Sickle cell is one of those things but not the only thing. Are you or the father carriers for sickle cell? Did your doctor's office send this to you? It would be really strange for them to not discuss this with you in person. I would contact your pediatrician so they can discuss with you what it means.
