Need to rant!

My parents worked their butts off for weeks to throw us a baby shower at their house. I told my mom that I would help with what I could, but I didn't think that would be doing everything last minute, that morning. It's not my moms fault, she had cut open her dominant hand and had to get stitches the day before. My brother, uncle, and cousin (all in their early 20's) were supposed to be at the house that morning to help prep everything, and they never showed. Not even for the shower. And on top of that, every one of my SO's friends cancelled that day or just didn't show. We were expecting 40 people, and ended up only having 15. Out of the 15, only 11 stayed for the shower. The people that came were so generous, and it was great spending time and catching up with them, but I feel like we spent so much time and money on the shower, and it could have been put to stuff for the baby. So much food left over now.
