I want to breastfeed but feel awkward...?

FTM here. I've always felt awkward about myself breastfeeding. I was originally planning to exclusively pump but am starting to think I should just get over it and breastfeed. Has anyone else felt awkward about doing so? I'm not sure exactly what it is...it might be that breasts are thought of as sexual things so my mind can't disconnect from that. What are your thoughts/experiences?

I was 17 when i had my first. I knew i wanted to breastfeed. However i thought it as uncomfortable. When he was born that all flew out the window. I fed him until he was 28 months. My 2nd wa my daughter and i formula fed. She has had alot more health problems than my oldest. After that i vowed to always breastfeed my kids. Its weird because its like your brain shuts off the part that associates it to being sexual. I cant really explain it

I used to have the same mindset about my boobs until i had my son and attempted to
Breastfeed him. You might have the same revalation that i had. 
But on another note, boobs arent sexual objects. They play no role in the process of reproduction or sex. They are solely there to feed and get in the way of everything lol.

I felt a little awkward about it too. Even saying it felt kind of strange to me. My boyfriend and I were both kind of like ehh about it. But I was set on doing it because it is the best health wise. I actually really enjoy breastfeeding. The bond I have with my daughter is so strong. I love knowing she needs me 😅 and whenever my boyfriend is holding her and I want to, I just say "oh time to feed her. Sorry." lol

Once you start your boobs will as far from sexual to you as thy can be. Don't worry about that.

I think maybe once you try it, it will be easier to decide.  I have a friend who didn't breastfeed because she had similar concerns, however I never had any problems but was somewhat nervous and apprehensive about breastfeeding with my first because I didn't know what to expect. Once I started I had no problems. Good luck.
