When to start the pill

When should I start my pills? I've never been on birth control so I don't know when to start. Today is a Tuesday but my pack starts on Sundays. I also just got over my period yesterday. Can I start it today even though it's Tuesday and I just ended my period?

The doctor should have told you how they work. You start the first day of your period even if it's just very light spotting. There should be stickers on the back of your birth control pack that you can peel off and put on the front of your pill pack. It changes the days of the week for you. Mine started on a Thursday so when I put the sticker on it changed Sunday to Thursday and Monday to Friday and so on.

You can do either! First 5 days of period (which provides you with automatic protection from pregnancy) or anytime after that (but you have to use 7 days of backup protection while the pill becomes effective). Follow what your dr said as well as what the pamphlet that comes with the rx says too.
