Only get one ultrasound??

Question

I just got my bfp, called an obgyn this morning and made an appointment. I have an appointment at 7 weeks and 10 weeks, neither are ultrasounds. They told me I'll have one ultrasound at 18-20 weeks. Is that normal?? I had a miscarriage awhile back at 8 weeks, so I'm really wanting an early ultrasound to make sure baby has a heartbeat.

Yea that's odd, everyone I know had an ultrasound the first appointment because they need to verify exactly how far along you are and that everything looks ok... maybe if you're not too attached to your obgyn get a different one

They said my first appointment will be with a medical assistant to confirm my pregnancy and get some background on my health. My second appointment will be with the doctor (at 10 weeks), but no ultrasound 😞

With my first three children I didn't have an ultrasound until 20 weeks but for some reason my doc now likes to do one between 8-10 weeks.

I agree with Michelle that seems odd. This is my first pregnancy, never miscarried or anything my first appointment is a couple days after 8 weeks and I will be getting my ultrasound first and then speaking with my midwife. I think if you should find a new place to go! Good luck!
