Prenatals with or without iron?

Before I got pregnant, I bought some prenatal vitamins to take as a multivitamin. They don't contain any iron. Now that I'm pregnant, should I switch to prenatals that have iron in them?

I have a prenatal with no iron, and just am taking an iron supplement with my prenatal everyday.

I'd ask your doctor at your next appointment. If your blood levels look fine you don't need it. Some women find they're more prone to become anemic during pregnancy, but lots are fine. I have to take iron every day no matter what just because of my blood condition. But at some point your doctor should do blood tests to look at different levels.

Well, for me, I SPECIFICALLY bought prenatals with NO iron because I was chronically constipated before pregnancy. Iron only makes constipation worse. Also, my iron levels were fine (had them checked). So, I did not need or want the iron prenatals provided, and even without the iron I am still suffering with constipation! Depends on the person, I suppose.

Yes, you do need extra iron. 
I have to take elevit which has iron, and an iron supplement as well due to be iron deficient in the first place.
