Which is a better investment?

A crib that turns into a bed seems like the better investment to me. I don't even want a pack and play, I personally don't think they're good for babies to sleep in long term. I'll be getting a larger play pen when they start crawling and they need a place to play while I do other things, because I don't think it's benifical to keep a baby in such a small space for play time.

I bought both. Both of my kids have sleept so much better in their cribs than anywhere else but the pack n play is nice to have for certain occasions. We recently went out to the lake and set up the pack n play under some shade and then used a cribs fitted sheet over the top/opening of the pack n play to keep bugs out. My daughter had a nice nap in there. Pack n play also helps when baby stays the night a grandma's (saturday will be his first night away). 
Overall, i think a crib is a must have but a pack n play is nice to have.

I say crib if you can convert it to a toddler bed. You will get so many more years out of it.
