Is it okay for someone's SO to be jealous of their child?

I just saw a post about a woman complaining about how she's jealous of her SO's child because she wants more of his time, but the child is taking it. How do you feel about this? I personally think it's messed up to be jealous of a literal child.

Without a doubt, no debate, a child comes first. If you are a single man/woman entering a relationship with an person that has a child , you cannot expect him/her to "give up his time" tf?! 
It's ludicrous to think you, an outsider, are more important than a child!

A feeling is never not ok if that makes sense. If you can recognize that that feeling is irrational and problematic and make efforts to work through it it's fine.

my dad's ex girlfriend was always super jealous of me when i was young. she was jealous that my dad always said i come first, before her. she was always so rude to me and i didnt understand why until i got older, needless to say- i'm so glad they didnt work out. she was immature and selfish. i was an innocent child wanting my daddy's love and attention and she was a dumb bitch for expecting him to take that away from me

My bitch of a stepmother was like this. My dad had been gone most of my childhood in prison, and when he got out when I was 8, he married her 6 months later and she essentially chased me out of my dads house because she was fucking TERRIBLE to me. It was always petty passive aggressive shit too. Then one day on the family computer in the search history I saw that it had been searched multiple times "what to do if you hate your step child" and other shit like that. That's when I decided to move back in with my mom and step dad. She was a bitch and chased me out of that home after I hadn't been with my dad for fucking YEARS of my childhood. And she's still a venomous, passive aggressive bitch to me, to this day. Her and her fucking son. I'm getting heated just talking about them ughhh.

In our family, my husband and I our our relationship first. This does not mean we neglect any needs of our daughter, but we are the foundation for the family. It took my husband and I to create it, and I won't let having children make us distant to the point of strangers.
What's the point of having kids if it tears you and your spouse apart? We make sure to put our relationship and love first. Because it's healthier for our children. And that is proven.
Now, entering a relationship with someone who already had a child? A little different. Your relationship is still important. But you need to remember that their bond didn't start because of you and him. It started long before.

I personally don't have any step kids.. but I think I would eventually get jealous if there was one. It would be really hard for me to share my husband with his ex in that way. To see him making plans with his ex to involve himself with his "old" family would never work for me.

Than again ive been married 15 years to the same person so I might be looking at this from a different perspective 🤔

I mean it's okay to FEEL that way as we can't control feelings. However it's rude to say anything, as they are a single parent. I grew up with 2 single parents from ages 4-6. My dad met my stepmom. It's HARD for someone to act like a mom to another kids child. It really is, there is no biological bond. I'm from another relationship, he loved this woman enough to create a baby with her. However she treats me like her own (she never wanted to give birth or raise tiny babies). So no you can't judge her on her feelings.
HOWEVER, you can blame her on the way she displays these feelings. If she tells him to pick, that's wrong. If she doesn't deal with them in a health manner, other than calmly talking and being understanding to her SO, that's wrong.
My moms been a single mother for a long time, I don't really count boyfriends as they never lasted more than a year or two and only one ever lived with us. But my approval was ALWAYS needed and she ALWAYS made sure my needs came first. I can't even count how many times she stayed home from a date becuase I was sick, I was sad or had a nightmare or something. But it's a lot. And that's how a parent MUST act for their kids. Kids come first, SO comes second.

Yes and no. I think it ultimately comes down to how they cope with this jealousy.

Are they mature about it? Can they be honest yet have a serious conversation about those feelings so they can work things out? Or do they take out their jealousy on their SOs kid? Does the kid get treated worse because of it? It honestly really depends. I feel like its normal if you are not spending enough time with your SO to perhaps get a little jealous, it just all depends on you react to it.
