Getting induced...what can I expect?

My water broke at 37 weeks exactly with my first son and from start to finish was in labor 8 hours. This little guy doesn't want to come out and I am scheduled to go in to be induced on the 12th at 10pm. I am pretty nervous. I've been at 2cm and 75% effaced for over 2 weeks. What all are they going to do for the induction?

They'll hook you up to the Pitocin and let you slowly labor. You'll most likely have to wear monitors for contractions and babys hearbeat. I started Pitocin at 8am on Friday and had baby by 8am on Saturday. Contractions were fast and strong and I asked for an epidural around 4cm. Until my OB broke my water, I barely progressed. Baby didn't react too well to Pitocin and ended up being vacuum assisted out when I was nearing birth. Scary, but he is fine! Just remember it's OK to ask for pain relief, Pitocin contractions are no joke. And your doctors will make every decision to keep you and baby healrhy.

following! (i was wondering the same thing, i have an overnight induction next sunday) all my doctor told me is that i would go in at 9pm, they'd give me a pill to get stuff going and soften my cervix, another dose about 4hrs after that... and if i still haven't dilated or gone into labor by morning they would start me on an IV.

I had my baby three days ago at 38+4 and was induced with an oxytocin drip. I was very reluctant for induction but waters had broken and nothing more was happening on its own so the midwives started to worry about infection and basically insisted on the drip. It was not nearly as bad as I expected though. This is also my second and my body remembered what to do. First labour was 6 hours and this one was barely even two hours! It was over in a flash.
