My ex and I are friends and we've been arguing about me keeping limited contact with him and I told him if you don't wanna be friends then tell me. And he says we can be friends if you want. It's up to you... to me it seems like he doesn't care to be friends as long as his gf doesn't know we're friends he's happy

You can't be friends with a guy who is hiding you from his girl, that's not right. I think you shouldn't be friends.

If he has a girlfriend, don't talk to him. You two shouldn't even be fighting over whether or not you talk. His girlfriend is the only person he really needs to be focusing on.

For me that's cheating. Talking to an ex is a big NO NO for me.

Seems like you don't want to let go of him. Just move on like he did. Look at him having a gf and talking to you behind his gf back. Imagine you were still with him and he was doing that to you. Would you like that??

If he's hiding you from his girlfriend then no. You don't hide friends from your SO unless something is happening or you plan on something happening. My bf ex is still in his friend group but I am fully aware of her and even like her! No problems there.

My boyfriend is friends with his ex. It's causes no issues and is completely ok. Exes can be friends. BUT if he's hiding it from his girlfriend then there's a bigger problem there. I'd just stay away from that mess. Either she's controlling him by dictating who he's friends with and needs to work on her insecurities. Or he's not trustworthy (well he isn't either way since he's hiding it, but having a controlling girlfriend isn't fair to him) and has bad intentions. Either way stay away from that. You don't need to get messed up in his new relationship. If your friendship is out in the open then it's a totally different story
