IUD Experiences?

Question

I've been off the pill for about a year now and have been relying on only condoms as a my main source of contraception. I'm considering getting an IUD, but I'm not sure if I'd want to go with the non hormonal route or not. If you've had one, what was the procedure like for you? And how has your experience with it been? 
I'd love to hear about how it's working out for you ladies!

I've had my Mirena IUD for about three or four months now and I absolutely love it. I had the worst periods on the pill that often landed me in the ER and now I've only had one very short and light period and have no other side effects. The procedure itself was the most painful thing I've ever gone through, but I have a very low pain tolerance and even then it only lasted ten minutes. More than worth it for me personally. My partner and I both love it and I recommend it to anyone even thinking about it.

I have the Paragard iud and I absolutely love it! Insertion didn't hurt at all, there was only a tiny bit of pressure for 2 seconds but that was it for me! And my periods have been completely normal and I haven't gotten any cramps either!

I got the paragard IUD a month and abit ago, which was the best decision I've made in a while! The procedure did hurt for me, but only for a second or two. The nurse was awesome about it and I had my bf with me, so that made it much easier (Mid way through the procedure, the nurse and him were discussing about India! Couldn't believe it). My iud hasn't made my cramps worse or my period heavier (it was to begin with), but I can take BC to help, hence why I got the non-hormonal option, I can control it more. At the end of the day, it all depends on your situation, your body and your decision. Best of luck x
