compromise?

I always compromise with my bf. for example, I really wanted to go to this restaurant so the deal was we'd go there and then watch transformers (not really my kind of thing but it makes him happy). then he texts me saying he doesn't think the restaurant is great after I'd already made the reservation. so I cancel the reservation. I just wanted to go somewhere nice. I feel like this happens all the time. I'm aware this is just a small example but I feel upset
