Tattoos over self harm scars?

It's been three years since I have self harmed you can barley see them now and the picture quality is terrible but I can see them and some of the remind me of life and the lessons learned and how I grew from such a hard time but the others just remind me of the pain. Anyone covered scars ?? Comment pictures

I've struggled with self harm for over 13 years for multiple reason (if asked I have no qualms expanding on why). I don't relapse often, but if I do I have a support system in place. I chose a small bird on my wrist because I didn't want to cover them since I'm not ashamed of them, but I did want something that could look at for hope and strength and positivity for when I get urges.

Hubbys a cutter, and burns too.He had a tat of his exwife's name & turtle that he partially burned off already. We got a cover up done last year over the previous tattoo and burn scars. You can still see a slight difference in the skin surface and texture where the scars are, but it turned out pretty well.
Consult with a reputable tattoo artist (or several) and possibly look for someone who specializes in coverups & scars (like ours did)😊 Ask for before and after photos so you'll know what to expect.

I got this tattoo last November, over my self harm scars. The lines and dots are Buddhist symbols for the struggles of life and where the lines become straight, symbolizes peace with yourself and nirvana. The lotus flower symbolizes growing in muddy waters, into something far more beautiful. I just appreciate the simplicity and beauty of the crescent moon and that's why it was added into it. My tattoo doesn't cover my scars entirely, but adds to them, showing that things get rough and you have to find some kind of solace but you can grow and learn and find new outlets and ways to cope with the bad things that have happened to you.

My scars aren't visible in this pic but i'm working on a sleeve to cover mine up. So far i only have two but the anchor covered a lot of it up. Just pick something out that you like and talk to a tattoo artist about covering them up and they'll make it work.

Haven't cut for almost three years. I'm 22. But I do have scars on my sides of my stomach that I can't cover because they're too raised. I'm absolutely ashamed and embarrassed. Trying to cover them all.

Yours don’t look like they really change the skin texture, more like bad scratches that have scarred. You should be fine. Look around at a few shops and see what one you like best. I’d love to get mine covered but I’m not sure if I can, if it would work very well. Mine a very thick and raised, and the skin is soft and wrinkles easily.
