Does scratching cause stretch marks

My coworker said when your belly starts itching it causes stretch marks when you itch it. Is this true? I know the itching sensation is from the skin stretching, but does itching actually make them happen faster or easier?

No, itching doesn't cause stretch marks. They're genetic. You're either going to get them or you're not. Lotion will only help to lighten them and help them to go away after delivery. Nothing that I've ever read or tried has helped to avoid them. My OB even said if your body is going to get them, they'll come. Nothing you can do.

I always got told not to itch or it could cause stretch marks, I didn't get any with my first but my belly was always itching with my second and I got them with him which I think is a bit strange could just be a coincidence 🤔

I call bullshit on that. I scratched my stomach and dry brushed and got no stretch marks.

Don't scratch!!! If you really want to keep your scratching from causing stretch marks, get a pot of cow urine, boil it down, and add it to your bath water. Make sure it's COW urine, not bull urine. Add a bit of Jasmine to keep the odor down. Best of luck.
