Is it too hot to take my dog on a walk on blacktop?

Its 80 degrees (F) and the humidity is 70%. I wanted to take my dog with me on a walk but I don't want him to burn his paws. Is it too hot out to take him, or do you know a trick on how to tell if it's too hot to take him? I don't want to burn his cute little paws.

feel the pavement with your bare feet. if it's too hot for you, it's too hot for your dog.

You're supposed to feel the pavement with your hand and leave it for more than 10-15 seconds. If you can't keep it that long, then it's too hot for your fur baby!

If you put your bare foot on the pavement and its too hot for you then its too hot fir a dog. Although my feet are incredibly tough and it takes a lot to burn my feet so i use my hands lol. You could try booties if your dog wont rip them off. Or just walk in the grass near the pavement

You should be fine. I'm in AZ and you wouldn't be able to, as it hits 118 a few days a week right now. 80 is still pretty warm but his paws should be alright. If you can though, see about taking him to a park so he's on grass the majority of the time!

What everyone said about the barefoot/hand test. And also, try walking earlier in the morning before the sun's been out for hours. I'd imagine 80s a safe temperature though. Do the test to be safe.
