Zofran is it okay?

My doctor prescribed me zofran bc I'm having really bad morning sickness. I know they wouldn't of prescribed if they didn't think it was okay but I'm still kind of nervous about taking it. I would love some opinions on how you ladies feel about taking it.

I took it when I was pregnant with my son. I had tried 4 other meds that did nothing for me.  For severe morning sickness I say yes. I knew the risks and took it

Docs still prescribe it but it had a lawsuit against it because it's known to cause birth defects. Both my docs in the last two years prescribed it but I won't take it. I'm not risking that. There's other meds they can give you. Also ginger ale is a life saver. Helps with nausea.

My best friend has had two very healthy happy babies and took zofran with both. She did say it made her super, super constipated though. If it affects you that way, you can also ask for diclegis, which is what my doctor prescribed... I didn't have any bathroom issues with it at all. Im sure both vary from person to person though.

It has been tied to heart issues in a recent study BUT the research was rather flawed and inconclusive -- despite that I see people writing about it all the time on here as if they rally dug into the study, which they clearly haven't. I only say this as a heads up if one of those people starts fear mongering on here. I took it with my daughter and she is healthy and well. If you are worried at all talk to your dr about your concerns. The reality is they go to school for years to accurately dissect and weigh research...and in the end it's your body and your decision. Hope you feel better momma!
