I couldn't watch much more than 10 seconds of the video without getting sick to my stomach. Videos like this make me absolutely furious at cop empathizes. He was handcuffed and not one cop or the cop with the dog could order the dog to back off. That dog should not be in K9 at all if he can't be controlled. But I guess he's just a "thug" so who cares right? Smh even the other officers there held him down so that the dog could continue attacking him!!! This makes me so angry NOTHING could have justified that! Especially when cold blooded murderers and rapists get a warm meal when they are arrested. I dare someone to tell me the bs that color doesn't matter.

Any officer easily could command the dog to stop. I haven't watched the video. Those dogs are trained extensively. It's NOT the dog. It's the officer. And if the dog happened to go batshit crazy, the officer knows exactly what to do. Any failure is on the police. Those dogs are badass and good natured.

Ima be very careful with my wording. The K-9 took the man down and the messed up part was once he was in cuffs, the dog continued to cling to the mans arm. The K-9 was obviously trained badly but I feel like he or she was just doing his or her job. It just lasted longer than it should have. It's still wrong, but it's not like he was in cuffs and this dog randomly attacked like articles are making it seem.

I haven't seen the video. I truly can't watch something like that. But from what I gather, the police officer should've said his command to tell the dog to release.
My father in law trains German shepherds and malinois for a living. He often times assists in the training of K9s used for police, border patrol, and TSA. Those dogs are EXTENSIVELY trained! They don't get to see the active field without both the officer and the K9 being completely bonded and properly trained in all aspects of field work. That includes taking down a perp to sniffing out illegal substances. 
Police officers that have their K9 partners have a command for literally everything. Also, their taught to know what their dogs body language is telling them. For example, ears back means one thing, tail straight out means another. So in this scenario, even if the dog lost its mind, the officer knows a command to stop the dog. Or if that fails, the officer knows exactly how to physically make their dog release their bite. The officer simply didn't give the command to release. Which is beyond negligent and so wrong! Regardless if the perp was a scumbag, being attacked by an animal or a person while subdued is disgusting!

That video was beyond vile. When the cop pulled the dog up by its scruff and it wouldn't let go, I cringed. The guy's arm must have been shredded. I hope the cop is punished.

I haven't seen the video, but I'd put the blame on the police officer that wasn't commanding the dog to stop. The K9 is trained to follow orders. It's sad that things like this just keep happening and some people still want to deny that there's a problem.

I just really hate cops and I'm so sick of having to explain why. Cause it's shit like this that gives all of them a bad name. I don't care if their not all really bad, the "good" ones don't stand up for citizens against the "bad" ones. So that makes them equal. A cop can easily command a dog off, but nope. 🙄

Most dogs are good but at the end of the day all those officers should have said SOMETHING commanding the dog to stop once he was restrained. That dog and the officer went way beyond "just doing their job" if he was in handcuffs there was no need for him to continuously be attacked. Smh cop empathizers 🙄
