Sunscreen before 6 mo?

Has anyone used sun screen on their little ones before 6 mo? My baby is 4 mo and he's sooooooo soooo soooo white lol! I don't want him to burn when we're out! My Husband burns in the shade so my LO might too!

My pediatrician said ok at 4 months..organic zinc oxide based.

I used babyganics when my daughter was 4 months, because we were on vacation. I just made sure she got a bath and extra moisturizer after a day with it on, and her skin did just fine! Much better than the inevitable burn she would have had from the sun!

My son is 3.5 months old and I put sunscreen on him yesterday. (First day in the pool) I only put it on his arms and legs though. He had his swim shirt and shorts on and a big floppy hat. My baby is so fair I was more afraid to not put it on him. It went fine :)

My daughter is 5 months and we use babyganics. I did a spot test on her leg first.

We have a UV screen for the stroller. Also I recommend a UV long sleeve sun shirt and wide brimmed hat.

"Since babies under 6 months of age have thinner skin, they may absorb more of the sunscreen, and the long-term effects of sunscreen were unknown. The old recommendation was only to use sunscreen on babies over 6 months of age; but to keep babies under 6 months out of direct sun and covered by protective clothing, and not to use sunscreen. However, in the past two years, the American Academy of Dermatology and the American Academy of Pediatrics have stated that since no evidence of harm was found from small amounts of sunscreen on babies’ skin, it is considered safe to use sunscreen on infants younger than 6 months of age when they can’t be completely protected by shade and clothing."

I used Aveeno baby and California Baby sunscreen. I personally prefer the second one because Aveeno is too thick.
