Worried...

Just about 2 weeks ago I had sex. But I dont know if the guy used protection or not cause I had been drinking. I was supposed to start my period almost a week ago. My friend keeps telling me that I dont need to worry about possibly being pregnant because it takes longer than 2 weeks before any signs start appearing. Should I wait a little longer before I take a test? Or what do I do?
