After waking up to my bed being wet in the middle of the night, i called my grandma who is an er physician, she advised me to call my obgyn so thats what i did! They told me to come up to the hospital to have everything checked. I went in and was 1 cm dilated and 75% effaced and the amniotic fluid test had come back negative - the doctor told me to go walk/bounce around for 30 minutes to retest. This time it was slightly positive! She did a quick ultrasound and noticed my fluid was low and decided to admit me for induction. I was placed on cytotec which started to thin out my cervix and after 4 doses of that, they placed me on pitocin to get everything going... Within a few short hours i was already on the max dose having pretty intense and regular contractions - they decided to check my cervix, i was still only at a 3! I kept going through the contractions for hours and after about 40 hours of being in active labor i opted for the epidural - i would violently shake before each contraction and was so dehydrated that i was starting to faint after them. I knew i didnt have the energy to push anymore and needed to rest before it was time. They came and placed it, and i immediately fell asleep - about 20 minutes later the nurse came to cath me and noticed it was just about time to push! I had almost instantly jumped to 10 cm once i was able to relax. She got everything prepped and within 30 minutes my perfect baby boy was born! Zane Ross Satterfield was born July 12th, 2017 at 3:19 pm weighing in at 6 lb 11 oz and measuring 19 and 3/4 inches. ❤❤
