Birth Story: very long

Sammie
Yes, it's late. My prince is 15 months old. But here we go. First off, we started young. I was already engaged to my best friend of five years then, we both knew we wanted kids. I wanted them sooner because I had miscarried before with my ex. Well, we started TTC for about two months and nothing. So we got a puppy. Sweet little rat terrier with Doberman like markings. She used to always fall asleep with her head on my belly. Then she stopped and started hating me. Found out we were pregnant two weeks later. I went and took a urine test at the clinic the day of my eighteenth birthday. Rough estimate, I had conceived him around my fiancé's birthday and he'd be due April 13th. I continues going to school (mostly to prove my father wrong) all through my somewhat rough pregnancy. I didn't gain hardly any weight til the last two months because of how bad my morning sickness was. I also had a scare that I was miscarrying, but it turned out to be a uti (I had some light bleeding that scared me). Well along comes April 1st, I had to drag myself to school that day because I was just so tired and weak to help my classmate finish one of our projects. Right after we presented it to the class, I had to go to the bathroom. My underwear was completely soaked. So I texted my fiance, who was at work, "I either just pissed my pants or my water broke." Keep in mind it is April fool's. He didn't text back for about fifteen minutes. Come to find out, he had called the office and was trying to convince them to call me an ambulance. I had been having some back labor all morning, but nothing too concerning. I told the office I was fine when they called me down and that I'd call my doctor at lunch, next period. Naturally, the doctor said I needed to come in. First I finished my lunch, then I called my in-laws and said I'd need a ride to the hospital after explaining what was going on. They took me to the hospital, checked to see if my water was leaking, decided they thought it was (the three tests they did came back inconclusive) and admitted me. They started me on pitocin. My contractions were literally going off the monitor, I could barely feel them. My nurse for that night was as pregnant as I was and wouldn't let me walk, nor let my sister in-law work on me. She knew some labor inducing pressure points, being a massage therapists and all. So I slept through most of the night. Next morning, my new nurse let me walk and get on the ball and my sister in-law work on me. Water still hadn't broken at 11, so doctor came in and broke it. Things progressed very quickly from there. I went from a five to a seven in an hour, then a seven to a nine in half that time. I was on my side, contractions hurting pretty good by now. They gave me some Tylenol in my IV, I had decided before we were even actually pregnant I was not going to get an epidural. My nurse asked if I felt like I needed to push, I said yes. She called my doctor and told him. He said to check me again and he'd be down in just a minute, he was checking another patient. Still on my side, my nurse tried to check me. Just her moving my leg was agonizing, I rolled to my back and pushed three times and my baby boy was here. Luckily my nurse had gloves on from trying to check me, she caught him. As they were cutting the cord, my doctor walked in completely astonished. Said I progressed better than most second time moms and handled it better too. My little boy was born 5 lbs 13 oz 19 in at 1 o'clock pm April 2nd. Todd Jace Matthew Akins, the light of my life and such a sweet bright little boy.
